Official Farewell

Mon Oct 26, 2009, 8:29 AM
Well, it's finally come time for me to move on from this website.

I won't get into the specifics, but I've been teetering over planning to leave for awhile now, but after some recent events, I finally decided dA isn't for me anymore. So there really isn't any one reason for my leaving.

Although I'm quitting dA I am NOT planning on abandoning this place cold turkey style ('cause we all know that rarely works). So here's how this will work:

I'm not removing my work. I'm leaving it up so that I have dated proof the work is mine, since obviously if I post it elsewhere it won't have the exact date of completion on it and yadda yadda yadda. (Art theft and crap isn't even close to being a reason for my quitting anyway >_> ) I might eventually move everything into storage, but for the moment it stays up.

If I owe you a commission or a prize, I will contact you on here here. Any I take in the future I won't, just the last few things I need to do. Since it's all prizes and commissions for people here ON dA, I see no point in making life difficult on the people I owe work for.

Don't worry if you accidentally comment or send me a note on here. I will be getting on periodically just to make sure everything's ship shape <_< >_> I mean... I -was- on this site a long time. It'll be awhile before I'm officially gone gone.

So before anyone gets the wrong idea about my actual reasons for leaving, it's not because of any one person. I've just gotten seriously tired of how bogged down with teenage drama this website has gotten. Sure, -any- website is going to be that way, but I'd rather have my work presented on a website I associate more with professionals than I do drama llamas. Plus it really wears me down when I'm supposed to be concentrating on school work, but whenever I go here to relax, I'm constantly bombarded with people's problems they have with one another. Some people will probably see this as me being selfish, but the truth is, I just care -too much-. I need to remove myself from that a little and try and care more about the things that will actually affect my life rather than the things that will only distract me from these things.

I'm currently working on a blog right now for school purposes, but I'm also working on my website. As soon as one or the other is finished, I'll be posting the link here for anyone who still would like to view my work. My blog will still probably contain some of my opinions and whatnot, so it'll turn into more of my journal and all that fun stuff, but my website will be free of that. So if you like my work, but hate me, that's where you'll want to go ;D But if you hate my work, but love me, well... you're out of luck because my blog will still be mostly art <_<

If you want to keep in touch with me, I get on Yahoo almost messenger every day. I also have MSN and AIM, which I'll -try- to get on as well, but I'm pretty forgetful about remembering to sign into those. I suppose you could also try e-mailing me at lgubse20@student.scad.edu

Any questions you might have, just contact me and I'll be more than happy to answer =) (unless it's something stupid like "DO YOU HATE ME?!" u_u )

I need to take another official hiatus 8D;;; I'm falling behind on schoolwork, and I don't think I'm putting the effort I need to be in certain classes. I already wasn't spending -too- much time on here anyway, but I'm going to keep myself from being on here period until I've gotten caught up with schoolwork and other things. I've also dove into some things on here I shouldn't have <__<;;

But anywho, I'll pop in on my B-DAY (the 25th ;D ), but other than that, I'm staying off until work is done, or the quarter is done, which will be the second or first week of November :) So until then, take care, guys! :D

Technically I did this awhile back when :iconnieko14: did it, but I had already posted a journal and didn't want to journal spam 8D;;;... and deleted it >_>

Why did you join this site?
Because a bunch of retards on some oekaki I was trying to get into (but never did) had one. I then abandoned it right away because I didn't get into the oekaki, but later came back because of neo'tards :O

What does your username have to do with you? Is it a combination of your favorite things, or a character of yours?
NOTHING. ZIP. ZILCH. It has nothing to do with ANYTHING. There's no story behind it other than I used to make up words all the time, so that's all it is 8D;;;

What is your current icon of?
Damien killing himse- I mean smoking :D

How many watchers do you have and how many people are you currently watching?
Uhhh..... Oh, I watch 251 people <_< And 213 watch me.

Do you have more than one account?
Oh yes, I have several, but I don't use any of the others. I made them to organize my accounts better, but I've never been very good at keeping track of multiple accounts 8D;;

Name 3 of your favorite artists on DA.
I'll just name the first three that come to mind :O :icontraditionaldanimatio: :iconspacecoyote: :iconairage:

What deviant do you admire because of their personality?
I'm going to try not to put friends here because I admire most of my friend's personalities ;D
But to be comepletely honest, there aren't a lot of people on this website that I really admire their personality >__>;; OH, I should say :icontraditionaldanimatio: here because of the way he handled some -extreme- theft. His art was pretty much ripped for the ghostbusters game that came out recently, but even though that's almost as extreme as theft can get, he didn't go ape about it. He did mention it here, but he wasn't ranting and raving and foaming. I always love it when artists show a lot of maturity over things like that, because it always bothers me when someone gets their art reposted somewhere and they go completely crazy.

How many people on here do you actually know in reality? Post their avatars.
I ton <___<;; I'll try and list all of them, but I'll probably forget some people. (so don't take it personally if I forgot you)
:icongrey-gryphon: :iconkowboykatz: :iconsanguinenightmare: :icondorianclock: :iconapollos-foxhunt: :iconrandajopanda: :iconagentomega: :iconshadowolfxx: :iconkonori: :iconspartanike88: :iconrandomoutput: :iconcyrismustang: :icontyger1225: :iconhyperskid: :iconira-sumiekaze: :iconoblivionskey: :iconxvortexbladex: :iconegghead-rjthompson: :iconsampoa:

and I've met :iconkaiodadragon:

Okay, I know for a FACT I've missed a couple people <___<;;; there's a couple I -know- I watch, but I don't remember what their usernames are exactly.

Do you comment, fave, or both?
I mostly just fav 8D;;;;; I honestly don't get on here enough anymore to comment. (I get on in short spurts that are just long enough to see the most recent stuff that's been posted)

What do you typically post on deviantart?
Stuff for other people and not for me 8D;;;;;; .... and ref sheets <_< Yeah, dude, I just looked and most of the stuff I've posted lately is either art trades, gift art, and school work >___>;;; I think I'm in need of doing some stuff for -me-.

Do you participate in clubs or contests here on DA?
Uhhh.... I try, but more often than not, I don't particupate in either 8D;;;;

What is your most popular deviation?
HAHAH the only stamp I've ever posted <_<

What's your favorite submission in your favorites gallery?
o_o......... Hmmm..... WELL. Right now it's this picture

'cause seriously, no one ever does good fanart of Havoc <_< Plus it's just made of awesome.

What are the things you wish you could draw better?
Uhhh.... compositions >___>;;; I'm getting better, but I still have a ways to go. I still sometimes make my stuff look -really- stiff, but that's also something I'm getting a -lot- better at :D

Are you a subscriber?
Uhhh yeah 8D;; I resubscribed myself so I could post that retarded journal about changing my webcam from the Hulk we all knew and loved <_<

How many hours a day do you spend on DA?
Lately I've only been getting on when I felt like procrastinating 8D;; LIKE RIGHT NOW U___U;;;

Are you a fast, slow, or medium typer?
SUPAH FAST. I'm like TYPING LIGHTNING >8D And a lot of my friends feel like they're really slow at replying because I'm so fast >__>;;

What is the most annoying thing people ask you?
"IS THAT A FURRY?!" No, loser, it's not :| I'm -not- a furry, therefore I don't -draw- furries. It's ANTHROPHOMORPHISM. And just because I have a dumb little animal I mistakingly labeled a fursona doesn't make me one either. She's just a charicature, nothing more.

What is the most annoying comment you get?
"OMG LOOK IT'S A NEOPET/FURRY!" NO AND NO. If you WANT to piss me off, go right ahead and say it. But if you want to respect me, you won't say either u___u;;; I let random strangers off easy because they don't know me, but honestly, my friends should know better :/

What inspires you?
Movies inspire me the most :D Movies, music, and dreams. By the way, I don't listen to music most of the time. I like saving it for when I'm working on stuff I really want to/need to get done, that way the joy of listening to it doesn't get old from repeated listening all the time.

Do you use any traditional media?
Hahaha, go look at my gallery and tell me if I use traditional media or not <_< Most on the very first page are traditional. Or a good part is. That dino drawing with the monkeys, all that black is traditional india ink.

Do you associate people online with their icons?
Hahah I would say no, but concidering how much it throws me off when someone suddenly changes theirs, it's a yes 8D;;;;

Have you ever suggested a Daily Deviation?
Yeah <__<;; A -lot- actually. But not a single one has gotten picked since the styles -I- like are too unique for the gallery moderators u___u;;;;;

Everyone has considered leaving DA once or twice. Have you? Why?
Yeah >_> A lot actually. I'm kinda-sorta not all here -now-, because of how little I get on. I know it seems like I am because of the journals, but seriously, the days I post journals are the days I happen to get on 8D;;;;;;;

It would be very very long <_< So I'm not going to do that.

INSTEAD. I'm going to do another movie review thingy :D It wasn't until recently that I started going on another movie spree though, so yeah :O I wasn't keeping track either so I'm pretty sure I forgot some movies. This one is a little longer than the last ones, but next time I'll make sure it's only ten like normal.

Oh yeah, I saw Who Framed Rodger Rabbit again, and I still don't care for it >_> I couldn't tell you why though.

(I spruced things up a little <_< This time you guys get MOVIE POSTERS to look at )

1. District 9-
A lot of my friends didn't like this movie, but I enjoyed it a lot. Although, I -do- understand their beef with the movie >_> I agree that it doesn't make sense all the problems that ALIEN FUEL causes (I won't elaborate in case some of you haven't seen it yet but are planning to, and don't know what goes on and such) but I don't really care at the same time <_< 'cause I'm certain that if I went up to Peter Jackson and asked him how the crazy alien magic did all that, he could tell me.
The only thing that seriously bugged me though was the nails falling off 8D;;;; Ugh. I can't handle stuff like that. I actually had to step out for a moment because of it, but after drinking some coke I was good again :O (The only nail fall off movie that didn't bother me was The Ring, probably because I was too busy laughing at how dumb that movie was to care)

2. 3:10 to Yuma
This is one of those movies where I enjoyed it a lot, but it was depressing at the same time >__>;;; The ending was expected, but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. (Although it's gotten to the point where I can pretty much guess how a movie is going to end within the first few minutes anyway, so that doesn't exactly bother me). I was cheering when the outlaw guy suddenly turned and shot up his gang <_<

3. Pulp Fiction
Ahhhhhaaaah... yeah, I hadn't seen this movie until recently :D;;; I definitely enjoyed it though. Hmm.... I don't really have much to say about it though O_o So moving right along.

4. 9
Hmmm.... it was alright. I loved the style and all that. I loved the characters. But sometimes I felt like certain characters knew too much and others too little. I guess either could be easily explained though. I am a little concerned about why there was a female, though <_< (if you've seen the movie you'll understand what I'm talking about. If you haven't, don't worry, I'm not being sexist.)

5. Castaway
PAAAINFUL. This movie made me cringe 8( I enjoyed it regardless. But seriously, this movie -really- made me feel uncomfortable <_< You could really feel the monotony of floating on the waves for that long. And shoving spikes in your mouth. And cutting your hand. And etc. Geez, I definitely watched a lot of depressing movies O_o IT DOESN'T END HERE EITHER. MOST of these movies were depressing 8D;;;

6. Perfect Blue
WHAT DID I SAY? Yet another depressing movie >_> At least it has a -somewhat- happy ending, but I wouldn't exactly call it completely happy. (Not that I have a problem with sad endings by the way. But I'm going to laugh the next time someone tells me there's too many happy endings in movies) This is also one of those movies where if you plan on seeing it, expect to be confused at least for a little while.

7. Memento
This is definitely my favorite out of all the movies of this list. I enjoyed and relished every minute of it. I know there's apparently a version out there where you can watch it backwards (or forwards if you thinking storywise), but I think it's best just the way it is. The shock value of the whole film would have disappeared and it would have been just another thriller. And I have a feeling people would be wondering "what the heck's the point in this movie?". I know I would have been. So if you haven't seen it yet, definitely watch it in it's original state. It'd be a really pointless movie otherwise.

8. Repo! The Genetic Opera
This movie... was delightfully cheesy :O I didn't think it was the best movie in the world, but I couldn't call it bad either. What would have made it a whole lot better, though, is if the Graverobber had more purpose. I -loved- that guy's voice <_< Actually, I loved most of their voices, but his was definitely the most memorable. But yeah, it's disappointing to see such a great character cheated of a bigger role :D;;;; Especially since it seemed like he -would- get one.

9. Whisper of the Heart
Hmm... not my favorite of Miyazaki's movies. Actually, it's probably my third least favorite. BUT. ONLY because it's not my kind of movie :O If you like chick flicks though, you'll probably love it. ( In case ANYONE is curious, my least favorite is Nausicaa followed by Princess Mononoke. )

10. Total Recall
More good cheesy fun :O ... and another movie I'm not sure what to say about 8D;;; Man I've been positive in these reviews today <_<

11. Persepolis
Now this was definitely inspiring >_> Man, I love French movies. I was already a fan of a couple of the animators who worked on this movie, and this only solidified my opinion of them. BUT if you hate political movies, don't watch it. But either way, I highly recommend it especially to those looking to go into animation.

12. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly
GAH this one was also depressing <__<;;; But once again, I loved it. I can't really say much more other than "go watch it" though. This is one of the few "based on a true story" movies I actually enjoyed.

13. Seven Pounds
Okay, so I made the horrible mistake of watching this, Persepolis, and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, all today. AS A RESULT. I'm not in the most feel good mood <_< Because yes. This is yet another depressing movie. Okay, so Persepolis wasn't really -super- depressing, but it wasn't what I'd call a positive feel good movie :D;; BUT ANYWAY, back to Seven Pounds. Once again, despite the depressing end, it was a good end. Well, sorta >__>;; Well.. those who have seen it probably know what I'm talking about 8D;;;

14. Benny and Joon
Last movie on the list :O Hrm, it was enjoyable. Not one of my top favorites, but considering I watched it today as well, it was a very very wanted change from the other three >_> If you're a Johnny Depp fan and you haven't heard of/not seen this movie, you should be -ashamed- u__u

I just got a Netflix account, so be expecting to see these more often :D I'd go more in depth with my reviews like -real- reviewers do, but with how many movies I do at once, that'd probably be a horrible horrible idea. I'd have to go one at a time, and I just couldn't do that with how many I tend to watch at a time <_<

Horrible day brightened by a jerk

Journal Entry: Mon Sep 28, 2009, 7:45 AM

Hahah so today has possibly been one of my worst days. I won't say it's -the- worst day, because I honestly couldn't tell you what my worst day has been, but this one has been pretty bad. (It's not even over yet, so who knows. Luckily it already reached the point where I just don't care what else happens because I already feel like garbage, and there's nothing that could make me feel worse aside from the death of someone I hold dear. Which I doubt will happen today >_> )

Basically I've been having severe difficulties with a project and was on the verge of just quitting my minor and not looking back. Commercials are -not- my forte, but somehow I managed to finally come up with an idea. My very first commercial idea. I'm pretty proud of myself.

But anywho, I won't get into the nitty gritty details of what's made today so bad, but basically, it's funny what people do sometimes that makes you just want to sit there and laugh and forget about your cares. As many of you know, I live in a city. People in the city are either the nicest people you've ever met or the jerkiest people you've ever met. I fortunately came across one of the jerks today. Fortunate, because it made me laugh and forget about things for a moment. Basically, after I crossed a street, all of a sudden I hear some lady yell at me from the comfort of their car "Take your time, fatty, there's no rush". It's highly amusing to me when people you don't even know feel the need to yell obnoxious remarks like that. What's -really- funny to me about that, is I'm not even fat. Sure, I'm not a twig anymore like I was in high school, but I'm still not what most people would call fat.

What these car drivers who like to yell things out also don't realize, is it's not exactly easy to hear what they felt was so important they needed to shout it out the window. So most of the time when people do that, you have to think about what they even said.

But anywho, enough of that. I've been extremely busy with school lately, but I've still been managing to find time to work on those commissions I took up. After those are out of the way I'll try and finish up the last two art trades... which I'm extremely sorry I'm being such a dope and taking so long with those :/ There's honestly no excuse for how long I've made you two wait. About all I can say that the wait is good for is at least you'll get more refined pictures than you would have had I done them back when I first took those trades up.

And in closing.... I now have a love/hate relationship with the delicious beverage known as CocaCola. Thank you for making my life so miserable this weekend, and yet so good.

Also, who else thinks it's weird that it's called CocaCola, but the shortened version is Coke with a K?
